Sometimes my day gets off to a slow start and the rest of the day becomes a bit of a discombobulated mess. Today was one of those days but I still managed to get a few things done and set up the shop so tomorrow we will go smoother. Late last night, I welded up some 2″ square tubing that I had set aside for a new mobile base for our big table saw. The base we originally bought with it was a piece of junk, and had collapsed under the weight of the saw with it’s add on sliding table. The new base features Footmaster casters, which can be leveled; on our uneven floor, they are very much needed. The Eye bolts on the corners serve as hoist points (which also fasten the casters to the frame) if we ever need to pick up the saw and move it to a second story, or a place we can’t get to with a pallet jack or fork lift. The casters themselves roll very smoothly on the epoxy painted concrete floor, but would not be capable of movement on any rougher surface.
In the real work category, I did a bit of profile sanding with the Wilmont grinder with small wheel attachment. Dire Wolves, Taipans, Megalodons, “Jim” Bowies, and some small knives are all ready to be marked with their grind lines and sent to the KMG in the grinding room for bevel grinding. Tomorrow I’ll be getting started on that, and get a batch of Kodiaks similarly prepared, and hope to do some actual bevel grinding. I’m going to wait for the weekend to do some sheath work and get a few orders ready for shipment.
This post marks my first attempt to take and upload pictures from my samsung tablet computer. I’m not so sure it’s going to be as effective a tool as I hoped. I wish I’d bought a laptop instead with a real keyboard. I quit trying to write this prose, and ended up just uploading the picture from the tablet and doing all the writing from my PC.
Perhaps the tablet will come in handy for other purposes, but so far I’m unimpressed.
