The Americanas Bowie is named after the black bear, “Ursus americanas.” It is offered as a slightly more traditional knife for those in need of a a big knife with a sharp point. The 9 1/2 inch clip point, Flat V ground blade has plenty of heft and excellent geometry for tough chores. An optionally checkered thumb shelf improves the feeling of control for detail work, and an optional welded steel pommel provides a flat striking surface while facilitating a perfectly neutral balance for quick handling in defensive situations.

In 2015, we will finally make some of these from 3/16″ thick CPM3V, and 5/32″ AEBL stainless steels. All pictures shown below are of previous versions of this design. Currently available blades have a symmetrical handle butt, and no sub hilt. Handles are fastened with hex head screws and contact adhesive.
