Magnum iMamba Tomahawk
This tomahawk is a larger, straight handled variant based on the concepts of the original iMamba tomahawk. The intent was to offer an alternative that would lend itself to easier use of the spike as an impact tool more so than the original, which is mostly just good for hooking and trapping combative techniques.
The Magnum shares its handle style with the “Murder” tactical Gladius, along with its “Skeletonized hilt” which allow a quick release pin to be used in conjunction with a very robust Kydex/micarta sheath for very secure and safe carry. “Jumpable” is likely a good way to describe the security of the sheath, but I’ve never been airborne, or ever seriously thought about taking a big fall out of a C-130. There are plenty of holes for threaded inserts on the sides of the sheath, which are arranged for use with Tactical Tailor’s “Malice Clips”, but it would probably be best to carry this tomahawk in a drop leg holster with the handle pointing up because there is NO frictional retention on the tool after the pin and/or thumb strap are disengaged.
The only parts of this tomahawk that aren’t ridiculously sharp are at the tip of the spike, both on top and underneath. In order to make a geometry of the spike that is relatively strong, it was necessary to twist the grind more obtuse as the spike tapers down to a point. This is a very tricky thing to do by hand, especially if you want it to look good and be symmetric.
There are only 4 of these tomahawks, and I don’t know if I’ll make more. If I do, they will get updated with the latest hilt and handle style from the revised “Murder” sword, and probably be machined instead of hand ground.
